My Experience at ‘Access to Bollywood’ Camp
I would like to thank Anu Dhir for organizing the camp. Wanted to also Thank our Guru’s Professor Taneja and SIr Tom Alter, who always encouraged us and told us how we could improve and what it takes.
It was an intense camp, but every minute was worth it. We learned step by step…everything from Reactions, Monologue, Movement, Improve, Scenes & Bollywood Dancing. It was a short, intense, but the Camp gave us a full overview of what is required in acting.
Everything was so well put together. First week was movement…wow, it was the hardest for me, as I am not a dancer, but it is not about dancing, it is about letting go. Which is what as an actor, we need to have. Not be self conscious and learn the art of freeing ourselves from all these self analysis and self image issues. It was the first time I realized as an actor that I was capable of something beyond just acting. Then came monologue, my question to Professor Taneja was always, how did I do? but all he kept saying, “you have to cry,” yes, indeed at the end, I did it. Scene was exceptionally hard, as I could not relate to the character, but all Sir Tom Alter kept saying was, “you have to have a relationship, build a character, see what your relationship is,” and at the end it was about relationship and character development.
I have taken many acting classes, but this I would recommend to everyone, as it gives you an overview of what acting is all about. We had very motivated and serious teachers and even all the students gave in there 100%.
